DisKominfotik Pushes Optimization of Public Information Services through PPID

The Jakarta Communication, Informatics and Statistics Agency (Diskominfotik) held a Communication Forum for Information and Documentation Management Officials (Forkom PPID) at Jakarta City Hall, Wednesday (11/20).

PPID is very important

Taking 'Optimizing Public Information Services through Implementing Gubernatorial Regulation Number 40/2024 on Guidelines for Management of Public Information Services and Documentation', this forum is a concrete effort by the Jakarta Provincial Government to realize good governance by prioritizing the principles of transparency, participation, and accountability.

This forum invited 418 participants who were representatives of all PPID Regional Apparatus under the Jakarta Government, including PPID Mayor and Administrative District, DPRD, RSUD, BUMD, Sub-district, and Urban Village PPID.

City Secretary, Marullah Matali emphasized the importance of the role of PPID as an information filter. PPID is deemed to be the Jakarta Government's filter for all information that will be absorbed and digested by the public and the media.

"Being a filter means conveying information proportionally and professionally," he explained.

He explained the principle of openness in public information services does not mean opening all information carelessly. Being open means opening oneself to information that is worthy for the public to know.

He also highlighted the strategic role of PPID at the provincial, urban village, BUMD, and hospital levels.

"PPID is very important. Being a filter doesn't mean blocking, but ensuring that the information conveyed is proportional. Therefore, they must continue to be strengthened," he uttered.

He hoped that the forum could improve the quality of public information services in Jakarta in line with efforts to realize an open and accountable government to the public. Aside that, PPID was also pushed to continue to improve its capacity and professionalism in managing information and documentation following Gubernatorial Regulation Number 40/2024.

"In this forum, the Jakarta Government hopes that public information services will be increasingly optimal, making the government closer to the people and meeting the need for accurate, relevant, and easily accessible information," he added.

Jakarta Diskominfotik's Public Information Division Head, Raides Aryanto added that PPID Forkom is an annual activity held at least once a year as a meeting forum between the main PPID.

"This Forkom PPID this time also socialized the latest regulation, Gubernatorial Regulation Number 40/2024 on Guidelines for Information and Documentation Service Management in the Jakarta Government as a revision of the previous regulation, Governor Regulation Number 175/2016 on Public Information Services," he explained.

According to him, what was added in the latest regulation was about strengthening the PPID Institution to the Regional Work Unit (UKPD) level in the region and regulating the BUMD PPID.

He added the Jakarta Government will continue to disseminate public information which is the right of every Jakarta resident and optimize public information services through the Jakarta Communication Forum.

"It is hoped that by implementing the Forkom PPID and strengthening the latest regulations and policies, Public Information services at the urban village and sub-district level can be more optimal and transparent," he closed.
